Valentine is a ghostwriter and classically trained pianist with a degree in Music Theory & Composition from New York University. She has been teaching for over 10 years and loves introducing new students to the world of infinite possibilities that is music and sound. Valentine encourages dialogue and creative expression in her classes and she believes the most effective way to teach begins by first understanding how her students learn.
A native of Chicago, IL, Ken started studying piano when he was in grade school, and he served as an accompanist for his high school choir. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN, where he studied piano with Arthur Campbelland organ with David N. Johnson and Paul Ensrud. He received his Master of Arts in Music History at San Diego State University, where he studied under the musicologist Jaroslav Mracek.
Founding MCCM Director, Drew Decker, has a passion for teaching people to play music in groups. Having played professionally for many years, he learned how music can bring people together in powerful ways, and he has found in his two decades of teaching that the student who really stick with it and succeed are those in play with others.
