Sylvia Mariposa's passion for dance began in childhood, performing in school recitals and events. She later received classical training in ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance, leading to college performances and principal roles. In 1993, she discovered belly dance and became both a teacher and professional performer, captivating audiences in San Diego and beyond. Sylvia's journey took her to prestigious events like Cirque du Soleil VIP receptions and fundraisers, along with appearances on international TV and San Diego Public TV. With a desire for continuous growth, she pursued advanced studies with renowned instructors and embraced American Tribal Style (ATS) belly dance, forming her own troupes, Mariposa and Elixira. After relocating to San Diego in 2015, Sylvia is thrilled to be teaching dance once again, enriching lives through the transformative power of movement.
